BeSound: Empowering every woman with information on her own body.

Breast imaging shouldn't depend on your age, or on what your insurance will approve. Mammograms are missing too many women: with dense breasts, under 40, and those who simply don't want radiation or the uncomfortable experience.

We started BeSound because too many women have been left without clear information about their own bodies, whether that's because they have dense tissue which makes their mammogram harder to read, or because they aren't old enough for a mammogram yet.

Welcome to a new era of breast care, one where you are in control.

The technology

One of the first in the U.S.

Through a strategic partnership with GE HealthCare, BeSound is home to one of the first U.S. installations of GE HealthCare’s newest 3D automated breast ultrasound platform.

In women with dense breast tissue, adding automated breast ultrasound to mammography detected 55% more invasive breast cancers than mammography alone.

BeSound is expanding access to this supplemental imaging for women with dense breasts while also making proactive breast screening available to women under 40.

BeSound is pioneering a new era of breast cancer screening technology led by a team of world renowned scientists, researchers, doctors & entrepreneurs.

Bailey Renger

Founder & CEO

Bailey Renger

Why can we see to the edges of the universe, but still struggle to see clearly inside a woman's body?

At 21, in the middle of her own cancer scare, Bailey had a mass her doctors couldn't explain, and an insurer that wouldn't cover the imaging to find out more. She left her PhD in quantum physics to find a better answer, and propelled by the experiences of other young women recently diagnosed with breast cancer, began exploring better cancer detection technology. That question became BeSound.

John Stanco

Founder & CTO

John Stanco

A physicist and engineer by training, John built his career developing cutting-edge AI for signal processing and mission-critical safety software for aerospace and defense. Working with Bailey, with whom he studied optical physics in college, he brings that expertise to building a better way for women to prevent and treat life-threatening disease.

Where we’re headed.

BeSound starts with breast ultrasound, closing the gaps mammograms and insurance often leave behind for dense breast tissue and younger women. The goal: women no longer have to fight for information about their own bodies.
