We’re on a mission to bring more comfort, clarity and accuracy to breast imaging

A cutting-edge combination of easy booking, access to advanced imaging, and AI analysis that helps catch what other scans might miss.

Here’s how BeSound works
Step 01

Intake & Risk Assesment

When you sign up, you’ll complete intake and consent forms. You also have the option of taking the Tyrer-Cuzick breast cancer risk quiz, which calculates your predicted lifetime risk of breast cancer.

A clinician reviews your information and, if medically indicated, places the appropriate order for your BeSound scan.

Step 02

Screening Ultrasound

If you have no symptoms, you’ll start with a screening ultrasound. Ultrasound is particularly effective for dense breast tissue and younger women.

Most of the time, scans are clear or show benign findings such as cysts or fibroadenomas.

Step 03

Follow-Up Imaging

If the ultrasound shows a suspected lesion, a clinician may recommended BeSound’s advanced ultrasound (also known as photoacoustic imaging). It’s similar to a pulse oximeter, using light and sound to measure oxygenation and blood flow in the breast. It’s a better, safer, more cost-effective way to detect cancer in women with dense breasts.

At this point, a clinician will determine if a biopsy is needed.

BeSound is non-invasive, comfortable, and provides more clarity than other scans — even with dense breasts.

BeSound's process can reduce false positive breast biopsies by up to

Step 04

Expert Review & Results

All images are interpreted by a board-certified radiologist, and typically you can expect to see results in your BeSound portal in 24 hours.

Step 05

Additional Care Coordination

If your scan suggests further evaluation, our care team helps you schedule a biopsy at a nearby center. If additional imaging is required, we coordinate that too.

*Ultrasound is not a replacement for screening mammography and is not considered a stand-alone screening method for breast cancer in average-risk women. It may detect some cancers not seen on mammography—especially in women with dense breast tissue. This information is for educational purposes only and does not replace professional medical advice.
